Photography

For me a great blog has to have great photos so I made it my goal to try and learn the elusive art of food photography. I have a growing collection of props like cake stands and crockery and am always on the look-out for more things.

This blog is filled mainly with my food pictures but since buying my first DSLR camera, I have developed a passion for portrait photography and I have had the opportunity to shoot events, weddings and even behind the scenes on music videos.

I have a bag full of kit but I pretty much use the stuff below;

My Camera

Lenses

Canon EF Lens - 50 mm - F/1.8 - Canon EF I use this one for food pictures & portraits

Tamron SP AF 17 - 50mm F/2.8 - Canon Fit Portraits in low light or for groups and anything else.

I use Photoshop for post editing and I shoot in a mix of large jpeg files and RAW files. If all of this seems like jargon to you, don't worry! I am only just starting to get my head around it all. Photography is so much more than just having a good camera and sometimes the camera can be a major cause of confusion. My suggestion to anyone wanting to learn how to take good photos is to read books, go on a course and probably most helpful of all find someone who does it well and ask them to help you!

There are so many talented photographers out there but the two who have inspired me the most are Helene Dujardine author of Plate to Pixel and writer of the Tartelette blog. I also love the work of Paul Akinrola who is not only an amazing photographer but he shoots really cool films. Check out some of his work on his tumblr.

Thanks for stopping by! If you want to take a look at more of my pictures you can see some here.
