Day 13 - Mince Pies Sealed With A Kiss

Today is a very exciting day, this is my 100th post since I began at the end of March 2011. I've come a long my first post and am really excited to be on this journey. When I first started out, I didn't tell anyone for a while as I was a bit nervous about how it would be received but steadily over the months I have become more confident with and am loving every minute of it!

I think the coolest part for me has been to discover a new passion for photography. I knew that a good blog needed good photos so I set my sights on trying to learn the art form. You can see the progress & while there is still a way to go to get great pictures, I've definitely improved as you can see...

For now it's back to the Advent Calendar and I have turned my hand to the classic Mince Pie! I used ready made puff pastry to save time and filled them a mixture of some soaked fruits that I have on standby and a ready made mince meat mixture. 

I personally think they were filled a little bit too much, but my Sister-in-law assures me that you can never have too much mince meat :). I must admit that the juice from the mixture that spilled over the top of the pies, did add some extra flavour to the pastry!

I ate mine with a healthy dollop of extra thick double cream & a glass of mulled wine (naturally), whilst I reflected on this positive addition to my life.
